What are Main-accounts and Sub-accounts?
When coChart Web was being designed, we took into consideration the fact that many users would be part of a larger organization where there may be several users accessing the system separately. We felt that maintaining all users accounts on our end would end up creating a bottleneck as we tried to verify new users, remove old ones, and maintain existing ones.

To solve the potential user maintenance problem, we created a main-account user and a sub-account user.  When an account is first opened, a main-account user is added along with all the necessary billing information. The main-account user is typically an IS supervisor or manager that will decide who can use the system. Then can go into the system and maintain a list of users who can use the system and at what level. A main-account user can create other main-account users as well as sub-account users.

The difference in main-account and sub-account users is the information that they can see. When a sub-account user logs in, (s)he can only work with the projects they created. When a main-account user logs in, (s)he can work on the projects they created as well any other projects that were created within their company account.

Another benefit to having main-accounts and aub-account that all access the same company account is for billing purposes. At the end of each month, an itemized invoice will be sent with an itemized listing of each user and his/her activity.

With this design in place, we can easily add features to coChart Web in the future. One feature that we are planning on adding is the ability to add users to the system that can only "View" the charts and not change any information.

What kind of Security is there?
  1. Data is stored on a secure server.
  2. Data is transmitted using SSL.
  3. Users have to provide a username and password to enter the system.
  4. A log file records all account activity storing user names, times, dates, and actions performed.

Can coChart Web Generate Charts for Direct and Reinsurance Coverage?
Yes. When a policy is entered, you can specify whether it is direct or reinsurance. This way, you can enter both direct and reinsurance policies in the same project. Then, when defining a chart, you can choose to include direct, reinsurance, or in some cases both policy types.
